My recommendations.

I promised that I shall be writing here a lot more often during the summer and so it begins and I promise that I will maintain it like a good blogger should. So here it is! I'm trying to re-instate my faith and love in music, so I'm going to get this ball rolling by suggesting 2 bands; one that you should be listening to and the other is one you should definitely see live.

Meet Manchester Orchestra, a band from Atlanta, Georgia. I know I mentioned them a couple entries ago, but their new record "Mean Everything to Nothing" is definitely my favorite album of 2009 so far. The first time I've ever heard of these guys was about 2 years ago when I went to go see my favorite band, Brand New play at the Avalon. So needless to say, it was definitely going to take a lot for any of the opening acts to impress me and Manchester Orchestra came in with an energy that demanded attention and interest. If you are a fan of Brand New I definitely suggest that you give these guys a listen, I could also hear a whole lot of 90's Alt Rock influence in their music which is something you don't hear a whole lot in music nowadays. Definitely pick up "Mean Everything to Nothing" by Manchester Orchestra, its a must-listen.

This is Phoenix, hopefully more of you are familiar with this band. Phoenix is from France and they just released their fourth studio album "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" this year. I was lucky enough to attend their show at the "sold out" Wiltern in Los Angeles last night and I must say they are one of the best sounding live bands I've ever seen. Their music is so catchy and fun that everyone in that huge venue was moving. So I highly suggest seeing them live, though in the next couple months it doesn't seem you'd be able to see them other than in New York or Los Angeles. However if you're international they might just be coming to your country, so definitely check them out if you can!

On a side note, after Phoenix ended their set the Wiltern blasted "Rock With You" and everyone in the venue started dancing and singing along. It was definitely one of the coolest things I've ever been apart of at a show. It definitely felt like we were all celebrating the life of the late, great Michael Jackson. I remember putting on "Thriller" in my garage as a kid and practicing the moonwalk and standing in front of the fan with my arms spread out like Michael did in his videos. His influence was worldwide, and his memory will live on through the wonderful music he made. Rest In Peace Michael.

And I'll leave you all with a video of part of that dancefest we had to Michael after the show, me and my buddies are somewhere by the stage if you care to look. Such a great moment and this video doesn't begin to explain how awesome a moment it was or how many people participated in it:

Until next time,
