The most anticipated fight in UFC history...
is what some people are calling it. Frankly, I'm looking forward to UFC 92 more (Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson vs. Wanderlei 'The Axe Murderer' Silva, Antonio Rodrigo 'Minotauro' Nogueira vs. Frank Mir for the Interim Heavyweight Championship, and most of all, Forrest Griffin vs. 'Sugar' Rashad Evans), but that's definitely for another entry.
I was bitten by the MMA bug about 2 years ago, slowly getting into it then turning into an all around fanatic. I watch hours upon hours of MMA every week and I can't seem to get enough of it. It's the fastest growing sport in the world right now (yes, the WORLD) and I definitely feel like it's the most exciting. I remember watching UFC when it was no holds barred when I was a kid, it was tournament mode and fighters had to fight up to 4 times in one night. It was definitely brutal, since then it has been sanctioned and caught on like wildfire since the reality show "The Ultimate Fighter" hit the air. I was a bit skeptical growing to love the sport the way that I do, because of what kind of people are associated with liking it, but it drew me in and kept me riveted like it has to most people that have watched more than a handful of fights.
This Saturday is a big one. UFC legend Randy "The Natural" Couture fights the beast that they call Brock "The Next Big Thing" Lesnar. It's also been the most debated fight that I've ever witnessed prior to the actual event. If I had to pick a winner, I'd never go against Couture, he proves people wrong time and time again. Lesnar has scary power and quickness though, which poses a huge threat, in fact, up until recently I've been saying that Lesnar is going to win. However, I have so much respect for Couture that I have to back him in this fight. It's definitely going to be a good one.
I'm also really excited to see Amir Sadollah, winner of the Ultimate Figther 7, to fight again. I think he's got huge potential.
If you aren't a UFC fan and you like sports even just a little bit, I suggest giving it a try. And if this doesn't get you hyped up for the Couture-Lesnar match-up I don't know what will...
