We have one week....

To make a change, I'm not one of the most trusting people when it comes to the US Goverment, but I believe that we need to make a difference and it's in our hands to do so. So go out there and vote. As young people, its our chance to show those who came before us that we can voice our opinions and make a difference in the world. I don't want to tell you who to vote for, but please don't let the McCain-Palin ticket ru(i)n this country. I think we're all ready for a change, we need to get that lameduck George W. Bush out of office as soon as we can, we can go nowhere but up from here...

John Legend "If You're Out There"
If you hear this message, wherever you stand
I'm calling every woman, calling every man
We're the generation
We can't afford to wait
The future started yesterday and we're already late

We've been looking for a song to sing
Searched for a melody
Searched for someone to lead
We've been looking for the world to change
If you feel the same
Then go on and say

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now
Now, now

No more broken promises
No more call to war
Unless it's love and peace that we're really fighting for
We can destroy hunger
We can conquer hate
Put down the arms and raise your voice
We're joining hands today

Oh I was looking for a song to sing
I searched for a leader
But the leader was me
We were looking for the world to change
We can be heroes
Just go on and say

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now
Now, now

Oh now, now

If you're ready we can shake the world
Believe again
It starts within
We don't have to wait for destiny
We should be the change that we want to see

If you're out there
Ooooh
If you're out there
And you're ready now
Say it loud
Scream it out

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now

If you're out there
If you're out there
If you're out there

If you hear this message, wherever you stand
I'm calling every woman, calling every man
We're the generation
We can't afford to wait
The future started yesterday and we're already late

The pity party.

I don't think that I can go a day without hearing, reading, or seeing someone feel sorry for themselves or trying to get people to be sorry for them. It's actually real sad. We get it, people go through hardships, it's apart of life. And I guarantee you there are billions of people going through way worse than these people are complaining about. I can't go a sign on to myspace or facebook one time without reading someone complaining about how hard their life is. People just need to appreciate what they have in the first place. If you're lucky enough to even complain on the internet, that's a luxury. Some people can't even find a way to get a tiny bit of food in their stomachs, let alone complain about it.

Love and appreciate what you've got. Don't let it leave you for you fully appreciate it. We're all blessed to be here, so seize the day.

memento mori.

If you aren't a fan of this guy...

Then you might as well have had no childhood. I just read this again for the first time since I was a child and it's just so much more inspiring as an adult, especially with being at a crossroads in my life. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this and understand it's depth much more than you did as a child because I definitely did....

Oh! The Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

You’ll look up and down streets. Look’em over with care. About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.” With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down a not-so-good street.

And you may not find any you’ll want to go down. In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town. It’s opener there in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you.

And when things start to happen, don’t worry. Don’t stew. Just go right along. You’ll start happening too.

Oh! The Places You’ll Go!

You’ll be on your way up!
You’ll be seeing great sights!
You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.

You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed. You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead. Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.

Except when you don’t.
Because, sometimes, you won’t.

I’m sorry to say so but, sadly, it’s true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.

You can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch. And your gang will fly on. You’ll be left in a Lurch.

You’ll come down from the Lurch with an unpleasant bump. And the chances are, then, that you’ll be in a Slump.

And when you’re in a Slump, you’re not in for much fun. Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.

You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. Some windows are lighted. But mostly they’re darked. A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin! Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in? How much can you lose? How much can you win?

And if you go in, should you turn left or right…or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite? Or go around back and sneak in from behind? Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find, for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.

You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.

The Waiting Place…for people just waiting.

Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting.

No! That’s not for you!
Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying. You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing. With banner flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high! Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all. Fame! You’ll be famous as famous can be, with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.

Except when they don’t. Because, sometimes, they won’t.

I’m afraid that some times you’ll play lonely games too. Games you can’t win ‘cause you’ll play against you.

All Alone!
Whether you like it or not, Alone will be something you’ll be quite a lot.

And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants. There are some, down the road between hither and yon, that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.

But on you will go though the weather be foul. On you will go though your enemies prowl. On you will go though the Hakken-Kraks howl. Onward up many a frightening creek, though your arms may get sore and your sneakers may leak. On and on you will hike. And I know you’ll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are.

You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

Kid, you’ll move mountains!
So…be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ale Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!

I don’t give a fuck if it’s hot or not, it’s from the heart…

So I must say, the infatuation with Kanye is at an all time high. I've been a huge fan since "College Dropout." It's crazy because I was totally against anything on the radio at that point in my life, and I was all about listening to bands that no one really knew about at that point; Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, etc. But there was something from the start that drew me Kanye, it's probably because no MC in the game at that point was opening himself up to the world the way Yeezy was. Maybe it's because he never tried front like he was a gangsta, therefore it was much easier for me to identify with him. Whatever the reason, from the moment I heard "Through the Wire" I had nothing but love and admiration for the man.

Last night, I was lucky enough to attend a taping of the Jimmy Kimmel show and it was my first time seeing Kanye live, I couldn't have been more excited. Accompanied by a full African drum group, he ripped through "Love Lockdown" (Which he messed up on twice before finally getting it right for the cameras, that second verse is a doozy), "The Good Life, then ended the night with "Champion." He sounded amazing, the percussion added so much to his live performance, I definitely hope he takes them out on tour. If you missed the performance, here it is:

Only bummer of the night is we tried to go to the private listening party of "808s and Heartache" right after the taping, but unfortunately we didn't have the credentials. As we were walking away trying to sweet talk security, Jonah Hill just walked on in. One day, Justin, one day...

As if my Kanye high couldn't get anymore stronger, he had to drop the unmastered version of his new single, "Heartless." If you want to give it a listen then CLICK HERE FOR HIS BLOG (WARNING: that link is not safe for work for there are pictures of the listening party with nude models).

I know a lot of people are going to hate on the direction he is going with this album. I believe that just makes me like it more, I love when artists aren't afraid to take that risk and try something different. It gives them the right to be called "Artists" and not just rappers or singers. If you haven't heard, supposedly the whole album is going to be in auto-tune (i.e., T-Pain), which I'm sure means a lot more singing from Kanye, which a lot of people aren't huge fans of. Last but not least, I believe the craziest information that has been divulged in the past couple of days is that Kanye is planning to release another album in June of next year! Holy shit, the man does not stop! You either love him or hate him, there's no middle ground with Kanye, and I'm sure he really wouldn't have it any other way.

Goodbye my friends, will I ever love again?

I'd like to live in a more literal world...

One of the most famous 80's songs there is... I've always said, I like when songs are narrative, but this is just ridiculous...

So sick, so sick of being tired and oh so tired of being sick.

I've got to apologize once again for yet another small hiatus from the daily chew. But this entire week has been horrible. I was pretty much bedridden this whole week because even the light of the TV would make me feel nauseated. Ever since Monday, I've had a continuous pounding headache and because I'm not prone to headaches it was a cause for concern, so I went to the Doctor's yesterday (I actually vomited in his office, but that's another story). In the end, I was diagnosed as being dehydrated so I've been taking plenty of Motrin for my headaches and Gatorade to get hydrated (which isn't bad at all because I love Gatorade). Anyway, I never thought dehydration was ever that bad, so definitely keep it hydrated. I learned that the hard way.

Anyway, it sucks to feel out of the loop, which is how I've felt laying in my bed all week. But I've got to give it up for my saving grace, my only recommendation this entry:

And NBA 2K9 is pretty sweet too! So if you have PS3 or XBOX 360 definitely pick that up!

I just realized how ironic it is for someone named "Juicy Justin" to be dehydrated.

File this under: I can't believe I missed this.

I've been out of the town for the weekend, so the daily chew hasn't exactly been daily.

I believe my biggest regret this weekend would have to be missing the T.I. myspace secret show, when I heard about it at first I was almost about to cancel leaving for the weekend because I've really been feeling "Paper Trail", but I later chose against it. But boy did I miss out....

T.I. had a secret guest lined up to play a couple songs, non-other than Yeezy himself, Kanye West. Performing his verse of "Swagger Like Us", "Love Lockdown", and his new single "Heartless." "Heartless" sounds like fire! I dig this sound that Kanye has been coming out with, it's different but I'm one to embrace "different." By the way, if you thought a December date for his new album 808s and Heartache is a bit early for the album to drop, then guess what, he moved up the date to November 25th! Anyway, I know some of you are bummed out about missing such a moment, but something is better than nothing, so here's a video of it. Unfortunately backed with some pretty annoying commentary by Consequence (Fast Forward to the 1:07 mark to see Yeezy's performance).

Also, I really appreciate the e-mails I've been getting. I will definitely give the recommendations a try and I welcome all questions. So keep sending me stuff and I might just put it on the blog: justin@loudobnoxious.com

I hope everyone had a good weekend and that a lot of you kids picked up the L&O fall line this weekend

What came first, the music or the misery?

My current obsession for the past couple of days has been soul music. Such FEEL GOOD music. You listen to it and can't help but have some cheesy smile on your face. It can be sexy, fun, heartfelt, all wrapped into one. That's what I love about it. It's also funny to think that a good amount of you guys were conceived to soul music.

I've focused my attention to 3 artists that are my personal favorite representatives of soul music: Stevie Wonder, Al Green, and Marvin Gaye. Hands down, Marvin Gaye is my favorite.

I think a lot of us have heard these timeless songs so many times throughout our life (parents, movies, television, etc.) that we may unknowingly know all the words. It's funny, I was listening to "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye a couple days ago and never realized the political undertones in that song. One of the lines that showcases this is "You see, war is not the answer for only love can conquer hate." It's sung in such a smooth way that you would never believe there was an anti-war sentiment behind it, unless you really listen to the lyrics, because it sounds just like any other "feel good" song. I also believe in the era we live in today, "What's Going On" is a song many of us in this generation can relate to.

I could literally listen to Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" for days. It's definitely in my top 20 songs of all time, everything about that song is just perfect and it keeps you thinking of all the romantic times you've had in your life and perhaps, are currently having.

Tracks that you should download and must have on your iPod: (Legally of course, psh)
Marvin Gaye "What's Going On"
Marvin Gaye "I Heard it Through the Grapevine"
Marvin Gaye "Let's Get it On"
Stevie Wonder "Superstition"
Al Green "Let's Stay Together"

Keep the music alive.
-Juicy Justin.

I'd shut the whole world down just to tell you...

Hi, my name is Justin Xavier. I've been with Loud& Obnoxious since day one. The point of this blog is to inform as well as give a voice to you guys, the Loud& Obnoxious readers/supporters, on just about everything. I'm well-versed in pop-culture knowledge, so I'll be recommending movies that I feel should be seen, music that should be heard, and books that should be read. On the flip side of that, I'm willing to give a try to anything anyone recommends for me, so feel free to recommend any books, movies, and music to my e-mail justin@loudobnoxious.com.

Some of you might be asking "what exactly is the point of this blog?" For lack of a better word it's completely random, much like what runs through my mind. I'm sure we'll touch on subjects such as: what I believe the meaning of life is, advice to those that need it, things that I've been currently obsessed with, things that I've been excited for, etc.

If there is something you feel should be talked about, then this blog will be the place for it. If you've got a clothing line you want me to promote, a band you want me to showcase, an interesting book that you've read that you want to inform people about, advice about a girl or guy you like, etc. Then feel free to drop me a line at justin@loudobnoxious.com. I'm here for you guys, I'll be sure to put it up and put my own little twist on it.

And just as a heads up, Fall '08 line is looking real good, be sure to make it out to the pre-release this Saturday!

Make the love.
Paint the picture.
Write the song.

-Juicy Justin.
