Remember when people used to write letters?

I'm a big fan of hip-hop artists that use creative samples, especially one's from different genres (I.E. Lupe Fiasco's use of Jimi Hendrix). And here comes another sample used for a hook that I can really appreciate. John Mayer's "3 x 5" is one of my favorite songs by him, and creatively producer Mark Ronson samples it for Wale's song "Letter." I like the way the track sounds a lot, not as big a fan of Wale's verses but the instrumental and sample are good enough to carry the song. Give it a listen:

I really hope hip-hop steers more this way then that electro/mashup crap. I think the future is looking pretty good with my personal favorite, Lupe Fiasco, Wale, Kid Cudi, and even Drake. It'll be interesting to see where hop hop goes from here. I think we've had a pretty weak year in 2009, after such a great year last year but hopefully it'll pick right back up.

Stay gold.

Who says.

By previous entries, you probably know I'm a big John Mayer fan. I'm highly anticipating his latest album "Battle Studies" which is completely done recording and is in post- production. Anyway, the first single off the album is named "Who Says" and you can now download it on iTunes. But give it a listen first....

Late registration.

If you guys are in college, you're probably feeling the same burn that I am; completely overwhelmed and busy. But it's alright because I feel accomplished and I keep challenging myself to be more responsible and do better. For all you kids in school, much respect. Just keep grinding!

Now, that it's been a while since we last spoke. I wish I can share all this new music with you. That's one of the things I love most about life, obviously from almost every post on this blog. However Jay-Z's "Blueprint 3" wasn't as good as it should be. Kid Cudi's "Man on the Moon: The End of Day" wasn't everything it potentially could've been. And even my favorite artist, Brand New came out with "Daisy" and though it was a good album, it wasn't one of their most memorable.

But, I got a listen of a new Lupe Fiasco song named "Fire" and it is exactly that, FIRE! He samples Jimi Hendrix and he goes hard on this song. I'm definitely excited about about the new stuff that Lupe is going to come out with. If this is song is any indication of what he has in store, then I suggest you all get excited too. But I'll let the song do the talking, give it a listen here....

I also hope you guys are stoked for what L&O has been coming out with lately and for the future. I'm super excited about the things they've been working on and I couldn't be more proud of the guys. So thanks for showing your love and support. It definitely means a lot. And thanks for continually reading the blog even though I'm not the best at updating.

Also if you know of anything interesting I should read, watch, or listen to hit me up.
